Cardiff's Jones wins manager gong

Dave Jones, Kenny Jackett and John Sheridan

Dave Jones has been rewarded for Cardiff City's unbeaten October as the experienced boss has won the manager of the month award in the Championship.

Jones beat Swansea's Paulo Sousa, Leicester's Nigel Pearson and Billy Davies of Nottingham Forest after taking 10 points from a possible 12.

Millwall's Kenny Jackett took the award in League One after his side won four and drew one of five league matches.

Chesterfield's John Sheridan won the League Two prize after four victories.

Sheridan was chosen ahead of Burton's Paul Peschisolido, Port Vale's Micky Adams and Rochdale's Keith Hill.

Jackett finished ahead of Paul Ince of MK Dons, Norwich's Paul Lambert and Southampton's Alan Pardew.

Jones has inspired Cardiff to the brink of the Championship's top two as his team won 10 points from 12 available.

Newcastle manager Chris Hughton had won the Championship award for both August and September.

It is the fourth time Jones has won the divisional award as Cardiff boss.

The 53-year-old, the longest-serving manager in the Championship after replacing Lennie Lawrence at Cardiff in May 2005, also won the gong in August 2006, January 2008 and October 2008.
