Football Foundation Funding
Directly after claiming the national title at St Andrews the Birmingham based organisation was awarded £1000 by the Football Foundation to fund their coaching work.
UnLtd Sport Relief Award
Then followed a grant of £3675 from UnLtd to allow them to get a community business idea off the ground. Director Manny Abbeyquaye had been thinking about it for a while. "I took if for granted that young people had access to football boots. Then I was working as a community coach in the city and was shocked and surprised to find that some kids couldn't afford them. They were playing in sandals, that sort if thing. This is what brought about our Shoot 4 Boots idea."
Shoot 4 Boots
With the UnLtd funding Centre Spot registered as a not-for-profit company and now go to local and professional clubs on the hunt for unused boots. They currently have over 500 pairs that they'll give away to deserving local young people whose only barrier to playing football is not having any boots.
"They were playing in sandals, that sort of thing."The impact of Your Game on Centre Spot has clearly been very positive as Manny confirms. "The event has been a trigger for our organisation to grow. Your Game has been massive for us."
